Terms and Conditions
Last updated 29 July 2026
These are the terms on which Price in Tanzania sells phones, laptops, televisions and other electronics to customers in Tanzania. They cover how an order is made, what you pay, how goods reach you, what happens when something goes wrong, and what each of us is responsible for. They apply whether you order on this website, by telephone or over WhatsApp.
1. Who we are and what this document is
Price in Tanzania is an electronics retailer based in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. We sell new smartphones, laptops, televisions, smartwatches, gaming consoles and accessories to customers across Tanzania, both online through this website and directly by phone and WhatsApp.
This document sets out the terms on which we sell to you. It applies to every order you place with us, however you place it, and to your use of this website. Please read it before you order. By placing an order you confirm that you have read these terms, that you understand them, and that you agree to be bound by them.
These terms should be read together with our Privacy Policy, our Return and Refund Policy and our Warranty Policy. Together they form the whole agreement between you and us.
If there is anything here you do not understand or do not agree with, contact us before you order rather than after. We would far rather answer a question early than resolve a dispute late.
2. Definitions
To keep the rest of this document short, the following words carry the following meanings throughout.
- We, us, our
- Price in Tanzania and anyone acting on our behalf.
- You, your, customer
- The person or organisation placing an order or using this website.
- Product, device, item
- Any goods we offer for sale, including accessories and any bundled items.
- Order
- Your request to buy one or more products at the stated price.
- Website
- This site and any subdomain of it operated by Price in Tanzania.
- Working day
- Monday to Saturday excluding public holidays in Tanzania. Our stated hours are Mon - Sat, 8AM - 10PM.
- Delivery partner
- Any rider, courier, bus parcel service or ferry cargo operator we use to move goods to you.
3. Who may buy and account registration
To place an order you must be at least eighteen years old and legally able to enter into a binding contract. If you are under eighteen, a parent or guardian must place the order for you and will be responsible for it.
You do not need an account to buy from us. Guest checkout is available on every order. An account exists so that your cart, favourites, orders and price alerts follow you between your phone and your computer, and so that you can see your past orders and reviews in one place.
Accounts are created by signing in with Google or Facebook. We never receive or store your password for those services. What we do receive is described in our Privacy Policy.
You are responsible for:
- Keeping control of the email account or social account you sign in with, since anyone with access to it can access your orders.
- The accuracy of the delivery address, telephone number and recipient name you give us. A delivery that fails because the details were wrong is not a delivery we can be asked to repeat free of charge.
- Everything done under your account, unless you tell us promptly that it has been used without your permission.
We may suspend or close an account that is being used for fraud, for resale in breach of these terms, to abuse our returns or warranty process, or to harass our staff. Where we do so we will tell you why, unless telling you would prejudice an investigation.
4. Products, descriptions and specifications
Every product we sell is genuine and sourced through legitimate supply channels. We do not sell counterfeit, cloned or stolen goods. Where an item is not brand new, that fact is stated plainly on the product page, along with its grade and its warranty period.
We take care to describe products accurately. Specifications, measurements, images, videos, feature lists and comparison figures are published in good faith and are drawn from the manufacturer, from our own catalogue records and from our own inspection. They are given for guidance and are not a term of the contract unless we have confirmed a specific point to you in writing.
Please keep the following in mind:
- Colours. Screens render colour differently. The shade of a device in a photograph may not be exactly the shade you see in your hand.
- Storage and memory. Advertised capacity is the raw capacity. Usable space is always lower because the operating system and preinstalled software occupy part of it. This is normal and is not a fault.
- Battery life. Figures quoted by manufacturers come from controlled laboratory tests. Real battery life depends on signal strength, screen brightness, temperature, the applications you run and the age of the cell.
- Regional variants. The same model can ship in different variants for different markets, with differences in band support, charger plug type or bundled accessories. Where a variant matters, ask us before ordering and we will confirm exactly which one we hold.
- In the box. Manufacturers change what they include without notice, and several have removed chargers and earphones from the retail box. Where the box contents matter to you, confirm with us before ordering.
If a product turns out to be materially different from how we described it, that is our responsibility and it is covered by our Return and Refund Policy.
5. Prices, taxes and currency
All prices on this website are shown in Tanzanian Shillings and include Value Added Tax where VAT applies. The price you see on the product page is the price of the product. Delivery is quoted separately and is shown before you confirm the order.
Prices in the electronics trade move often, because exchange rates, duty and supplier pricing all move. We may change a price at any time without notice. A change never affects an order we have already accepted and taken payment for.
Promotional prices, discounts and bundles run for a stated period or while stock lasts, whichever ends first. They cannot be combined with another offer unless we say so, and they cannot be applied to an order that was already placed at the ordinary price.
Pricing errors
Occasionally a price is published in error, whether through a typing mistake, a currency conversion fault or a system error. Where the error is obvious and could reasonably have been recognised as an error by you, we are not obliged to sell at the wrong price. If we spot the error after you have ordered, we will contact you, explain it, and offer you the choice of paying the correct price or cancelling the order for a full refund. We will not simply charge you more without asking.
Tax invoices
A tax invoice can be issued for any purchase where you need one. Tell us at the time of ordering and give us the billing name and, where applicable, the Tax Identification Number and VAT registration number to appear on it. Invoices requested long after the sale may take longer to produce.
6. Placing an order and when the contract is made
Product listings on this website are an invitation to buy, not an offer capable of immediate acceptance. Your order is the offer. A contract between us comes into existence only when we confirm the order to you, by message, call or email, and confirm that the item is in stock.
The ordinary sequence is as follows.
- You place the order on the website, by phone or over WhatsApp.
- We acknowledge it. An acknowledgement is a record that we received it, not yet an acceptance.
- We confirm stock, the total including delivery, and the payment method. This is the point at which the contract is formed.
- Payment is made, or is arranged for delivery where cash on delivery applies.
- We dispatch and give you a way to follow the delivery.
When we may decline an order
We may decline any order, before or after acknowledging it, and we will always tell you why. The usual reasons are:
- The item is no longer in stock or has been discontinued.
- The price or description contained an error, as described above.
- We cannot deliver to the address given, or the address cannot be verified.
- Payment was not authorised, or the payment details could not be verified as belonging to you.
- We reasonably suspect fraud, or a pattern of ordering intended to abuse a promotion.
- The order is for a quantity that is plainly for resale where the listing is for personal use. Wholesale terms are available on our business page.
Where you have already paid and we decline the order, we refund in full. We do not hold your money for an order we have refused.
Cancelling before dispatch
You may cancel any order at no cost before it is dispatched. Tell us as soon as you decide, since we dispatch quickly in Dar es Salaam. Cancellation after dispatch is treated as a return and is governed by our Return and Refund Policy.
7. Payment
We accept the following payment methods:
- M-Pesa
- Tigo Pesa
- Airtel Money
- HaloPesa
- Bank transfer
- Cash on delivery (Dar es Salaam)
Cash on delivery is offered in Dar es Salaam only. Outside Dar es Salaam the goods travel through a courier or a bus parcel service that we cannot ask to collect money on our behalf, so payment is made before dispatch.
How payment is handled
Mobile money and bank payments are made directly to accounts in our own trading name. Always check the account name before you send money. We will never ask you to pay into a personal account belonging to an individual, and we will never ask you to send money to a number given to you by anyone other than us through our published contact channels.
We do not collect or store card numbers, mobile money PINs or bank credentials on this website. No page on this site will ever ask you for a PIN. If a page appears to, stop and contact us.
Proof of payment and title
Please keep the transaction message from your payment. It is the fastest way to resolve any question about whether a payment arrived.
Ownership of the goods passes to you when we have received payment in full. Risk in the goods passes to you when they are delivered to you or to a person at your delivery address who accepts them.
Late or failed payment
Where an order is confirmed and payment is not completed, we hold the stock for a reasonable period and then release it. We will contact you before releasing it. Nothing is held indefinitely, because holding stock for one customer denies it to another.
8. Delivery and collection
We deliver across Tanzania, including Zanzibar and Pemba. Delivery times depend on where you are, and the estimate shown on the site reflects your region.
- Dar es Salaam
- Same day or next day, door to door by rider across Kinondoni, Ilala, Temeke, Ubungo and Kigamboni.
- Major cities
- One to two working days by courier, to your address or to the courier office in town.
- Upcountry
- Two to four working days by bus courier or parcel service to the nearest collection point.
- Zanzibar and Pemba
- Two to four working days by ferry cargo, handed over by the local courier partner.
These are estimates given in good faith, not guarantees. Weather, ferry schedules, road conditions, public holidays and courier backlogs all affect them. We will keep you informed if something slips, and you may cancel for a full refund if a delay becomes unreasonable and we cannot give you a firm new date.
On the day
- Someone must be available at the address to receive the goods. If nobody is there, the delivery partner will attempt to reach you and may return the parcel to us. A second attempt may carry a further delivery charge.
- Check the parcel before you accept it. Open the package in front of the rider or at the courier counter, confirm the item is what you ordered, and confirm that it powers on. This one step prevents most disputes.
- If the outer packaging is torn, wet or clearly tampered with, do not accept it. Photograph it and tell us at once.
- Where a delivery is signed for by a member of your household, your office or your building security, that counts as delivery to you.
Collection in person
You are welcome to collect your order in Dar es Salaam by arrangement. Bring the order reference and identification. We will confirm the address and the time with you when you order, since we hold stock at more than one point.
Delivery charges
The delivery charge, where one applies, is quoted before you confirm the order. Charges for upcountry and island destinations are set by the carrier and vary by weight, size and route. Any duty, levy or handling fee imposed by a third party at the destination is yours to pay unless we have stated otherwise in writing.
9. Buying on installments
Some devices can be bought on an installment plan. Where a plan is offered, the deposit, the monthly amount, the number of months and the total payable are all shown to you before you commit. Nothing is hidden and there is no charge that appears later.
- The device is released to you according to the plan agreed at the time of purchase. Where a plan requires the deposit to be paid before release, that is stated up front.
- Ownership passes when the final installment has been paid. Until then you must keep the device in good condition and must not sell, pledge or otherwise dispose of it.
- Missing a scheduled payment may suspend the plan. We will contact you before taking any further step, and we will always prefer to agree a revised schedule with you over any other outcome.
- The warranty on a device bought on installments is exactly the same as on a device bought outright. See our Warranty Policy.
Where a plan is provided by a third party financier rather than by us, that financier is a separate contracting party and its own terms apply to the credit. We will tell you clearly when this is the case.
Full details and a calculator for any device are on our installments page.
10. Returns, refunds and warranty
Returns and warranty are dealt with fully in their own documents, because they matter enough to deserve the space. In summary:
- A device that is faulty out of the box may be reported within 7 days and is replaced, not repaired. See our Return and Refund Policy.
- New devices carry a 12 month warranty against manufacturing defects. See our Warranty Policy.
- An item sent in error, or damaged in transit, is put right at our cost.
Nothing in these terms removes any right you have under the consumer protection law of Tanzania. Where this document and that law disagree, the law prevails.
11. Product use, safety and lawful use
Devices sold in Tanzania are subject to the requirements of the Tanzania Communications Regulatory Authority, including type approval and the registration of mobile equipment. Registering the device on a network in your own name, where that is required, is your responsibility as the owner.
- Keep the IMEI or serial number recorded. It identifies your device and is required for a warranty claim, an insurance claim or a police report.
- Use the charger supplied with the device or a genuine equivalent. Damage caused by a substandard charger or an unstable mains supply is not a manufacturing defect.
- Follow the manufacturer's safety instructions, particularly for batteries. Do not puncture, crush, submerge or expose a battery to heat.
- Do not use any product we sell for an unlawful purpose, and do not modify it in a way that breaches regulatory approval.
If a device is lost or stolen after delivery, report it to the police and to your network operator. We cannot replace a device that has been lost or stolen, and we cannot unlock or unblock a device that a network has barred.
12. Software, accounts and activation locks
Software and firmware on a device are licensed to you by the manufacturer or the software owner, not sold to you by us. Their licence terms apply and we have no power to vary them.
Sign out of your accounts before returning any device to us. Modern phones, tablets and laptops lock themselves to the account that set them up. A device that arrives at a service centre still tied to your account cannot be tested, repaired or replaced, and the delay is not one we can shorten. This applies to Google account locks, Apple activation locks, Samsung accounts, Xiaomi accounts and any similar protection.
Back up your own data. We are not responsible for data on a device sent to us for inspection, repair or return, and any repair may require the device to be reset. This is set out again in our Warranty Policy because it is the single most common cause of avoidable loss.
We do not provide, install or support pirated software, unlicensed operating systems or tools intended to bypass a manufacturer's protections.
13. Acceptable use of this website
You may use this website to browse, compare, order and manage your account. You may not:
- Copy, scrape, harvest or systematically extract our catalogue, prices, photographs or written content for any commercial purpose.
- Attempt to gain access to any part of the site, server or database you are not authorised to reach.
- Introduce any virus, trojan, worm or other harmful material, or attempt to interfere with the availability of the site.
- Use automated means to place orders, claim promotions or create accounts.
- Impersonate another person, or represent yourself as connected with us when you are not.
We provide this website as it is. We work to keep it available and accurate, but we do not promise that it will be uninterrupted, that it will be free of errors, or that any defect will be corrected within a particular time. We may change, suspend or withdraw any part of it without notice.
14. Reviews and anything else you post
Customer reviews are published because they are useful to the next buyer. When you submit a review, a rating, a question or any other content, you confirm that it is your own honest opinion or experience, that it is accurate as far as you know, and that it does not infringe anyone else's rights.
We will not publish content that:
- Is abusive, obscene, hateful or threatening.
- Contains someone's personal information, including telephone numbers, addresses or order details.
- Is advertising, spam or an attempt to direct readers to another seller.
- Is knowingly false, or was written in exchange for payment without that being disclosed.
Reviews are moderated before publication. We do not delete a review because it is negative. A genuine, critical review of a product we sell stays up, because a review section that only contains praise is worth nothing to anybody.
By posting content you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty free licence to display, reproduce and adapt it in connection with our business, including in marketing. You keep ownership of what you wrote. You may ask us to remove your review at any time.
15. Intellectual property
The design of this website, our logo, our name, our written descriptions, our photography and our arrangement of the catalogue belong to us or are used by us under licence. They are protected by copyright and trade mark law and may not be reproduced without our written permission.
Brand names, product names, model names and manufacturer logos belong to their respective owners. They appear on this site to identify the products we sell. Their appearance does not imply that the manufacturer endorses us, nor that we are an authorised distributor for that brand unless we state so explicitly.
16. Third party services and links
This website relies on services provided by others, including payment providers, delivery partners, sign-in providers and hosting providers. Where we link to another website, we do so for convenience. We do not control those sites and we are not responsible for their content or their practices.
Where a third party is a party to your transaction in its own right, such as a financier providing credit, its own terms govern that part of the arrangement, and we will make clear when that is the case.
17. Our responsibility to you
We stand behind what we sell. If we sell you something faulty, something that is not as described, or if we fail to deliver what you paid for, we will put it right by repair, replacement or refund, as set out in our Return and Refund Policy and our Warranty Policy.
Beyond that, and to the extent the law allows, our total liability in connection with any order is limited to the amount you paid for the product concerned. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including:
- Loss of profit, business, contracts or anticipated savings.
- Loss of data, and any cost of recovering or reconstructing it. Keep your own backups.
- Loss of use of a device while it is with us or with a service centre.
- Loss caused by a delay that was outside our reasonable control.
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded.
18. Events outside our control
We are not in breach of these terms, and are not liable for delay or failure to perform, where the cause is outside our reasonable control. That includes fire, flood, storm, earthquake, epidemic, war, civil unrest, strike, failure of a public utility or telecommunications network, failure of a payment system, government action, import restriction, closure of a port or the suspension of a ferry service.
Where such an event affects your order we will tell you, and we will agree a new date with you or refund you in full if you prefer not to wait.
19. Your personal information
We collect and use personal information in order to sell to you and to deliver to you. What we collect, why, who we share it with and how long we keep it are all set out in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.
In short: we do not sell your personal information, we share it only with the partners who need it to complete your order, and you can ask us at any time what we hold about you.
20. Changes to these terms
We may update this document as our business changes, as the law changes or as we introduce new services. The version published on this page at the time you place an order is the version that governs that order. Changes are not applied backwards to orders already placed.
The date at the top of this page shows when the wording last changed. Where a change is significant we will say so on the site rather than leave you to notice it.
21. Governing law and how disputes are resolved
These terms, and any contract made under them, are governed by the laws of the United Republic of Tanzania. The courts of Tanzania have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.
Before that stage, please come to us. Almost every dispute we have seen was a misunderstanding that a conversation resolved. Contact us with your order reference and a description of the problem, and we will respond within two working days.
If we cannot resolve it between us, you retain your right to complain to the relevant authority, including the Fair Competition Commission for consumer matters and the Tanzania Communications Regulatory Authority for matters concerning communications equipment and services.
22. General terms
Whole agreement
These terms, together with our Privacy Policy, Return and Refund Policy and Warranty Policy, and the order confirmation we send you, form the whole agreement between us. They replace anything said beforehand, unless we confirmed it to you in writing.
If part of this document fails
If any provision of these terms is found to be unlawful or unenforceable, that provision is severed and the rest continues in force.
Delay is not waiver
If we do not insist on a right immediately, that does not mean we have given it up. We may still enforce it later.
Transferring this agreement
You may not transfer your rights or obligations under these terms to anyone else without our written agreement. We may transfer ours to another business, for example if our business is sold, and your rights are not reduced if we do.
Third parties
These terms are between you and us. Nobody else may enforce any part of them.
